2020 Black in Business: Networking Dinner
Please consider joining the Center for Diversity & Enrichment and the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa for our 5th annual signature Black in Business event. Come and engage with University of Iowa students interested in business, entrepreneurship, the arts, education, and non-profit work who are looking to connect with leaders in those fields. Whether you have participated in a previous Black in Business event or not, the Networking Dinner will provide a night of empowerment for all who attend. Email Tevin Robbins at email@example.com to request the RSVP link.
This dinner was created to focus on the cultivation of our next leaders, supporting their growth, igniting their passions, and connecting them to successful professionals. For students, our goal for this event has been:
- showing representation of Black professionals to demonstrate that we are in an array of industries within business and entrepreneurship and that they (Students of Color) have access to these fields;
- provide mentorship to these student with individuals who may be in particular fields they are interested in; and
- give the students access to internship opportunities when applicable.
The Center for Diversity & Enrichment and the Tippie College of Business coordinate the Black in Business series in order to expand dialogue in the Black community around issues of higher education, business, and entrepreneurship. The series hopes to broaden the perspectives of Black students and expose them to unique mentorship opportunities. This series is in collaboration with the Division of Student Life's Being Black@Iowa Project. Our goal is that students will learn more about business from black professionals, discover their inner entrepreneur, and be empowered. Students do not have to be business majors to attend as we encourage them to see that anything they do in their professions can be seen as a business.
